Straight-line miles from tract centroid to main campus. Public = the 12 State University System institutions; private = 32 non-profit four-year institutions. Branch/satellite campuses and the 28 Florida College System state colleges are not included — replace with IPEDS coordinates for full coverage.

The 22 sites where UF/IFAS runs field research on land it controls: 12 Research and Education Centers and 5 Research and Demonstration Sites from the Office of the Dean for Research, expanded to their individual locations, plus the DeLuca Preserve. Multi-site RECs are listed separately because each is a separate piece of ground. Unlike the 67 county extension offices, these cover only 19 counties — Hillsborough has three and Santa Rosa two — so distances are far larger and the filter discriminates between roughly 10 and 25 mi. Campus departments are deliberately excluded: their addresses are Gainesville office buildings, not the land they farm. Coordinates come from the UF/IFAS directory (see fetch_ifas_research.py).
